What you can expect
What is a GentleMax Pro PlusTM treatment like?
- The duration of each session varies from person to person, but on average they last about 20 minutes.
- Because hair grows in stages, multiple treatments are required. The number and timing of these treatments will be determined by your provider.
- Laser hair removal treatments are commonly described as similar to having an elastic band snapped against the skin during treatment. A topical anesthetic can be used before treatment if desired.
- After the treatment, a cool compress or gel pack may be applied. If you do have any redness or swelling after treatment, this should resolve in a couple of hours. Permanent side effects are rare but should be discussed with your provider.
- You will be able to resume normal activities after each session, but you may be given specific advice, such as avoiding sun or abrasive skin cleansers on treated skin for a few days.
- You should always follow specific instructions from your healthcare provider.

Laser hair removal treatment makes your skin more sensitive to heat and sun. Sun exposure causes heat to build up in your skin so could cause skin irritation or sun burn. You can enjoy few hours out in the sunshine while going through your laser hair removal program. However, it is best to limit sun exposure for two weeks after a session and for at least one week prior to a session.
At what Age Can I Receive Laser Hair Removal?
Studies indicate that laser hair removal is safe for a wide range of people of all ages. Therefore, clients under the age of 18 may need parental consent to receive this treatment.
What are the Side Effects of Laser Hair Removal?
Clients scheduled for laser hair removal should avoid antibiotics 2 weeks before treatment and tanning prior to their appointment. The day before laser hair removal, the treatment area should be shaved. This reduces the absorption and transfer of heat into the follicle, which both improves comfort and decreases post-treatment side effects. After laser hair removal, clients can expect mild side effects. These may include minor redness, small bumps around hair follicles, and a sunburned sensation. Side effects begin to diminish within a few hours of treatment but can take up to 2 days to fully resolve.
